New Wizz Air flight to Africa!
From mid-December, the Hungarian low-cost airline will directly fly you to Hurghada, one of Egypt’s most popular holiday destination.
In addition to the recently extended number of destinations and new high-tech aircrafts, the Hungarian Wizz Air company launches a new direct flight to Africa.
The destination is Egypt’s most popular holiday resort, Hurghada which will be accessible with Wizz Air from 18th December.
Flights will depart every Saturday to the Egyptian resort destination with a four-hour flight time from Budapest.
Travel conditions
Before planning the trip, you should pay attention to the precautions and rules introduced due to the pandemic situation. Passengers can check the latest entry conditions on the Wizz Air website under the Travel Planner Map menu, but it is also recommended to visit the official consular website of the country of departure for the latest entry conditions.
Currently, Hungarian citizens must have an international vaccination card with a QR code or a negative PCR test (with an official medical stamp) made 72 hours prior to arrival.
Thanks to the bilateral agreement between Hungary and Egypt, passengers can also travel with a Hungarian immunity certificate.
However, latter can only replace the negative PCR test if the traveller has received both jabs of the vaccines approved by WHO or the Egyptian Medicines Authority. These can be Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Sputnik, Sinopharm or Sinovac. At least 14 days must elapse after the second jab or after the single dose in the case of Johnson & Johnson.
As the Hungarian new sportal Turizmus reports, it is also important to note that unvaccinated minors aged between 6 and 18 years are allowed to enter Egypt with a negative PCR test made 72 hours prior to arrival. Children under 6 years of age are free to enter the country.
Wearing a mask that covers the nose and mouth remains compulsory for the entire duration of the flight. Wizz Air also suggests travellers check the expiry date of their travel documents before the flight.
Suspended flights in Romania
While the number of flights have been extended in Budapest, more than 40 flights in Romania are projected to be suspended at the beginning of next year. As Szatmár.ro reports, data from Wizz Air’s reservation system shows that between January and March 2022, the Hungarian low-cost airline will suspend more than 40 flights and reduce the number of flights on several routes due to the pandemic situation.
